For those of us who live north of Victoria, I'm planning a DX coffee night on Tuesday June 5th (a week tonight) at 7:00 pm.
Special guests will include Ian McFarland of RCI, NHK and BBC fame!
The location is the Tim Horton's in Langford across the road from Home Depot on Millstream Road, and just down hill from Costco. There's all sorts of interesting things to hear about. I know that I'll be interested in hearing about Ian's recent visit to the SWL Winterfest in Kulpsville, PA and his (and Colin and Nick's) impressions of the extremely highly rated Eton E-1 receiver (AM/FM/SW and XM capable).

Colin points out that it's on sale for $499 at the Bay right now. I happened to also receive a flyer from Radio World in Toronto who has it on for the same price, free shipping, and free XM antenna, 3 months free XM subscription....a darned good deal, IMHO. Somehow, though, another radio just isn't in the cards for me. I still love my little Kaito/Degen 1103 receiver. Also I'm moving into the SDR receiver area (software defined radio), having purchased a SDR-IQ recently and will hopefully take possession of a WinRadio 313e in the near future as well.
As the season winds down into the summer doldrums, why not enjoy an evening of camaraderie and treats by joining us next Tuesday. A courtesy of a RSVP would be appreciated. As usual and with all DXer get-togethers featuring celebrities and blasts from the past, this special edition of the DXers local coffee get-together will probably include some type of exotic door prize(s).
