I think I posted this in the wrong forum and have
moved it to the MW Equipt. forum
Sorry Colin..:blush:
glenn

I ran across this review by a respected member of our MW community and was wondering if any of you have purchased one of these receivers or had any experience with one of the R-30A's or the earlier models?
www.am-dx.com/receivers.htm
Sounds as though they are a real bargain and a legitimate MW DXing machine..Thanks

Hi!
I would also be very interested in opinions about the Palstar receiver. I have been wondering how it compares to other radios (especially R75).

Peter;
Here is a review of the 'TOP' receivers atleast for MW, prepared by Gerry Thomas--desighner and engineer of the Quantum QX loops
www.dxtools.com/BestDXrx.htm
Mr. Thomas has years of experience and is very knowledgeable about SWL and MW in particular. I have spoken with him several time via theemail about the subject and he has made me a believer in the
Palstar--unless of course you can afford one of the Drake R-8 models
which are to rich for my pocketbook !!

Interesting read, Glenn. Have you seen a list like that for SW?

Pal;
I haven't seen such a list for SW but if I run across one I will post it...I suppose receivers such as the JRC and Ten-Tec and AOR...would be at or near the top.
Passport to World Band Radio has some reviews of new SWL receivers listed in it and the AOR AR7030 PLUS is at the top of there list with five stars and it being the 'Passport's Choice' and the list goes onnnnnn---I think your purse strings are the deciding factor on what is the "Best" for you and me--definetly for ME!!

Yup, you're right about the purse strings, Glenn. I guess I should be looking for a list of best cheap receivers. :(
